本次展览是叶无忌个人项目《中亚日记》（“Central Asia Journal”）的首次完整呈现。项目本身由三个互相独立但又相对联系的影像和一份病例报告，四个部分组成（Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 & A Case Report.）。项目通过非正规的视角，追溯18世纪直至今日的中亚相关材料，在现有的地理、历史、记忆的碎片中进行对比，以生活化的叙事形式讨论那些“知识”和视觉材料背后可能的权力痕迹，身份拉扯，和认知矛盾。展览除了以上提及的四个部分外，还增加了项目的有关读物——《抓饭Vol.6-中亚日记》。作为“中亚日记”项目（2018-2021）的补充性读物，它从两端开始，在中间结束。读者可以将其作为项目的注释和内容的扩充，也可以将其视为创作者的日记和剪贴本。虽然没有目录和索引，但《中亚日记》的结构基本与项目中的影像叙事流程并行，以艺术家的经验作为原点，追溯了“中亚”及相关区域的独特历史以及相关的遗产。项目中涉及的图像在读物中以某种“图集”的形式成为破碎而开放的叙事：这些素材来源于艺术家在实地走访和学习过程中搜集的各种资料，如新闻报道、书刊插图、文献地图、日常摄影等，这些素材互相穿插，有时紧密相关，有时相对松散。另外，这次驻留过程中制作的新影像“Phase 0”也会加入项目一同呈现。

 

This exhibition is the complete presentation of Ye Wuji’s project "Central Asia Journal”for the very first time. The project itself consists of three independent but relatively related videos and a case report, consisting of four parts (Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 & A Case Report.). Through an informal perspective, the project traces the relevant materials of Central Asia from the 18th century to the present day, compares the existing fragments of geography, history, and memory, and discusses the possible power traces, identity pulls, and cognitive contradictions behind the "knowledge" and visual materials in the form of daily narratives. In addition to the four parts mentioned above, the exhibition also added a reading material of the project——“Palov-osh vol.6-Central Asia Journal”which is a complementary artist book to the project “Central Asia Journal” (2018-2021) by Ye Wuji. It starts from both sides of the book and ends in the middle. The complementary publication takes readers on a journey through the artist’s research that informed the project. Although there is no index, the structure of the publication is basically parallel to the narrative process in the project. The "Central Asia Journal" takes the artist's personal experience as the start point, and traces the unique events of "Central Asia" and related regions. Is "Central Asia" someone's fantasy or a geographical term? What language can tell it? The project explores the history and legacy of the events that took place across Eurasia from the 18th to the present. The images involved in the project become fragmented and open narratives in the form of a certain "atlas" in the book: these materials are derived from various materials collected by the artist during field work and research, such as news, illustrations, documents，maps and photography, etc., these materials are interspersed with each other, sometimes closely related, sometimes relatively loose. What is more, the new video "Phase 0" made during the residency will also be added to the presentation.
